Workshop Report: Towards Better Synergy Between S&T and Development
CAAST-Net produced two substantive reports regarding synergies between S&T and development endeavours, one an analysis of synergies between the European Development Fund and Framework Programmes and the second containing recommendations for better synergy.
This document reports on a workshop where these two reports were discussed with the purpose of contributing to the ongoing EU-Africa dialogue on the interface between science, technology cooperation and development.
The two reports are complementary and provide an analysis of the policy and institutional landscape as far as S&T and development are concerned in the EU and in Africa. They also suggest possible approaches to forging greater synergy between science and technology and development.
The reports provided the basis for discussions at a two-day workshop at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, Uganda. The workshop was organised by the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) and the Research Council of Norway (RCN),and discussed the two reports and deliberated on the recommendations.
The outcome of the discussions is expected to contribute to the ongoing EU-Africa dialogue on the interface between science, technology cooperation and development.
