CAAST-Net Plus to Participate in European Development Days 2017
The event is organised by the European Commission and according to the event website, "bring[s] the development community together each year to share ideas and experiences in ways that inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges".
As part of this event, CAAST-Net Plus partners, such as the Institute of Research for Development (IRD, France), the University of Jyväskylä (Finland) and the Project Management Agency at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR-PT, Germany) will be participating to highlight sustainable agriculture and food security within the framework of climate change. "Both Northern and Southern scientific and university communities play a fundamental role in responding to current economic, social and environmental challenges and contributing to the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) envisioned for 2030," says IRD's Arthur Guischet. "It is for this reason that the IRD, along with its partners in the Southern hemisphere, is participating in the EDD 2017," he adds.
CAAST-Net Plus will be exhibiting at EDD in collaboration with other EU-funded research and innovation initiatives such as ERAfrica, LEAP-Agri, Platform for African European Partnership on Agricultural Research for Development (PAEPARD), the Research and Innovation Network for Europe and Africa (RINEA), PROIntensAfrica, and Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CDAIS). The exhibition stand will focus on the following themes in EU-Africa science, techology and innovation cooperation:
- strengthening capacities;
- building innovation;
- funding research; and,
- supporting public policies.
