The CAAST-Net Plus consortium now consists of 26 partners from Europe and sub-Saharan Africa working together to support bi-regional cooperation in research and innovation.

CIRAD’s participation in CAAST-Net Plus will mainly focus on improving bi-regional cooperation to address the global challenge of food and nutrition security.

“CIRAD is a major actor of the international research in agronomy in Europe, with food security at the heart of its mandate and one of its six research strategic axes,” says Arlène Alpha.

“Its long experience of bilateral partnerships with African research organisations in a number of countries, where it has representative offices, allows it to be a catalyst of the Africa-EU bi-regional cooperation in the field of food security.

“Drawing on its experience and working with CAAST-Net Plus partners, CIRAD is committed to identifying good practices and framework conditions enabling successful public-private partnerships, in order to promote or enhance them,” Alpha says.

With headquarters in Montpellier, France, and 12 regional offices, CIRAD is a major driver of the agricultural research for development agenda globally.
