“The initiative is a forerunner project supported by the European Commission to help form the initial partnerships and develop a fundable proposal for a long term initiative on agricultural intensification tagged IntenseAfrica,” says a statement released by the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa, a project partner.

PROIntensAfrica is coordinated by Wageningen UR in the Netherlands. The consortium is made up of 23 partners: 15 are from Europe and 8 are from Africa.

“PROIntensAfrica is a laudable initiative that will help address some of the challenges facing the agricultural sector in Africa,” said Mahama Ayariga, Ghana’s Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, speaking at the launch event on 23 April 2015.
