RINEA is expected to provide support to the High Level Policy Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation (HLPD), which has been set up between Africa and Europe as part of their Joint Africa-EU Strategy.

It is anticipated RINEA will also “take up some specific activities as put forward in the draft roadmap towards the EU-Africa Research and Innovation Partnership on food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture,” the Africa-EU Partnership website reports.

RINEA will run over a period of 36 months and plans to work in complementary ways with related projects, such as CAAST-Net Plus and ProIntensAfrica.
