The events took place on 26 and 27 October in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

  • To share information on Horizon 2020's open and upcoming calls for 2016-2017
  • To inform individuals on how to participate in a Horizon 2020 project; and,
  • To highlight the potential of the Horizon 2020 funding programme and NCPs in strengthening EU-Africa cooperation in research and innovation.

The Right Partners for the Right Call

"The practical component of the workshop enlighted me on how to identify the right call for proposals and relevant partners, information on budgeting and type of costs invovled, using the Community Research and Development Information Service (CORDIS)," says Gift A. Kadzamira, a NCP Coordinator at Malawi's National Commission For Science And Technology (NCST).

"Moreover, the presentation on ERAfrica's call for countries to express interest and potential involvement in the new EU-Africa collaboration based on equal input from both regions in terms of design, management and financing alike was indeed of importance to my country," she adds.

The workshop also provided researchers with information on how to participate in Horizon 2020, as well as information on the administrative, financial and legal matters related to the funding programme.

An informal meeting also took place between the African RECs and CAAST-Net Plus partners to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
