Call for Proposals: EU-Africa Partnership on Food Security, Agriculture and Aquaculture
The ERA-Net Co-fund ‘Long-term EU-Africa Research and Innovation Partnership on Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (LEAP-Agri),’ launched in 2016, is inviting research organisations and practitioners from the public and private sector to form consortia from at least four partner countries in Africa and Europe to submit project proposals that aim to address the challenges related to Food and Nutrition Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Aquaculture in Africa and Europe.
Project proposals should prioritise practical solutions for challenges related to sustainable agricultural intensification, in relation with social, economic and environmental aspects. In addition, proposals should emphasise on aquaculture, population nutrition, access to food, and health in relation to agriculture and food systems.
The announcement states that “projects should take into consideration the agricultural value chain as well as different niches of agricultural production and trade covering the range of small scale producers, as well as medium and large scale producers, their contribution to local, regional and international markets, as well as the processing of food and grocery marketing, with a focus on rural and urban population food security and an added value for all partners involved.”
The budget for a research project should range between € 300 000.00 and €1.5 million and project activities should run for a duration of 3 years.
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their proposals by 15 June 2017.
LEAP-Agri is a Horizon 2020-funded partnership of 30 organisations from the European Union (EU) and African countries, including 24 funding institutions. The partnership focuses on launching a call for proposals for research and innovation projects linking science to impact, and contributing towards a long-term Africa-EU science and innovation network in the field of FNSSA.
