The Africa Build project is to launch a new online discussion with a focus on data mining in biomedicine through its website.

The “AFRICA BUILD PORTAL” website enables researchers, practitioners, and students to connect with one another to form learning and collaboration communities on health-related topics.

The format of the platform is similar to the Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) offered by platforms such as edX and Coursera.

The Data Mining in Biomedicine Community of Practice will kick-off on the AFRICA BUILD PORTAL website on 17 February 2014.

Members of this course will discuss topics such as the available repositories of open data, the state-of-the-art within biomedicine data mining, and the design of a classification problem.

The website forms part of the Africa Build project, which is coordinated by the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid and funded through the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
