The InterAcademy Partnership's new book, Doing Global Science: A Guide to Responsible Conduct in the Global Research Enterprise, is available for sale from Princeton University Press. "This concise introductory guide explains the values that should inform the responsible conduct of scientific research in today's global setting," the title's website says. "Featuring accessible discussions and ample real-world scenarios, Doing Global Science covers proper conduct, fraud and bias, the researcher's responsibilities to society, communication with the public, and much more. The book places special emphasis on the international and highly networked environment in which modern research is done, presenting science as an enterprise that is being transformed by globalization, interdisciplinary research projects, team science, and information technologies."

The National Young Scientists Award is implemented by Member States who have signed an agreement with the AUC and its implementation partner, the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). This award is intended for scientists aged not more than forty years by 31 December. The Making of STI Policy in Africa

The Institute of Development Studies at the University of Nairobi is to host a public lecture by Professor John Mugabe of the University of Pretoria's Graduate School of Technology Management on the evolution of science, technology and innovation policy in Africa. "The public lecture will focus on the political economy of STI policy-making, national experiences, and outcomes of the policy-making efforts," an invitation says. "It will discuss conceptual drivers, metaphors and rationales for STI making. The key messages from the lecture will be that STI policy-making in Africa lacks clear conceptual clarity, strong political infrastructures and is characterized by ‘continuous discontinuity’."
