DFID Funds African Climate Change Researchers

Thirty-four researchers based in sub-Saharan Africa have been awarded fellowships for their research in climate change and devise solutions for local and regional climate change challenges. The Climate Impacts Research and Leadership Enhancement (CIRCLE) project is aimed “at developing human capital for sustaining organisational and institutional research capacity in researching climate change in Africa,” Benjamin Gyampoh was quoted saying on Coastweek. The programme is an initiative of the Department for International Development (DFID), and will be implemented by the African Academy of Sciences and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
