Higher Education and Africa-EU Research Collaboration

The Association of Commonwealth Universities has published an analysis in its ACU Insights magazine on the role of universities within Africa-EU research and innovation collaboration. “Since universities contribute directly to research that responds to these global challenges [climate change, affordable renewable energy and energy efficiency, infectious diseases, and food/nutrition security], there is a very welcome strategic objective in the Heads of State road map of strengthening the links between education, training, science and innovation for promoting human capital development, and knowledge and skills-based societies and economies. Universities however face the substantial challenge of ensuring the relevance of their research agenda and the application of that agenda both for informing policy and effecting change on the ground,” the article states.
