The Making of STI Policy in Africa

The Institute of Development Studies at the University of Nairobi is to host a public lecture by Professor John Mugabe of the University of Pretoria's Graduate School of Technology Management on the evolution of science, technology and innovation policy in Africa. "The public lecture will focus on the political economy of STI policy-making, national experiences, and outcomes of the policy-making efforts," an invitation says. "It will discuss conceptual drivers, metaphors and rationales for STI making. The key messages from the lecture will be that STI policy-making in Africa lacks clear conceptual clarity, strong political infrastructures and is characterized by ‘continuous discontinuity’." To register email secretariat[at]africalics.org.
