EU and Africa to Discuss Renewable Energy

The European Commission, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership Secretariat, and the African Union Commission are arranging a high-level discussion on the role of renewable resources in energy security. “One of the focuses will be to emphasise the unique value renewables can play in African and other developing nations’ energy systems by looking to the European experience underway of a renewable energy transition and the implications for energy security,” according to the event’s announcement. African and European business representatives will gather for a Business-to-Business meeting at Expo Milano 2015. Their goal? To share learning and experience from business relations between the two regions. “Agro-food manufacturing, food security, safety and quality control, food traceability, food conservation and shelf life, health biotechnology, water technologies, space applications for agriculture, environmental management, energy production, renewable energies and other topics relevant to the thematic focus of the brokerage event,” are all topics identified for discussion according to a announcement.
