*Unity: New Online Tool for Global Research Collaboration

http://l.caast-net-plus.org/f8

London-based multi-media firm, *Research Ltd, working in partnership with the Apereo Foundation and the Open Academic Environment, has launched a webtool aimed at making global research collaboration easy. The freely available service, called *Unity, aims to help connect researchers and universities, and increase collaboration between groups inside as well as outside a particular institution. “The emerging ecosystem is inherently generic in its core technology, and its natural role is to support the entire academic mission, simplifying life for both researchers and IT departments,” wrote founder and chairman of *Research Ltd, William Cullerne Bown, in an editorial. While *Unity is free to use for individuals, institutions have the option to pay to adapt the system to its representatives' needs. [Image credit: *Research Ltd]
