The European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP2) has opened a call which aims to see the promising results obtained during its first programme translated into real action on the ground. The call has an available budget of €3 million. Individual projects can receive up to €500,000 support over a two to three year duration.The organisers are especially looking for multi-disciplinary, collaborative approaches which focus on the translation and uptake of research findings obtained during the first EDCTP programme into practice and policy. R&D Fellowships Up for Grabs by LMIC Clinical Researchers

Low- and middle-income country researchers are encouraged to apply for one of 25 fellowships in infectious and poverty-related diseases (PRDs). The fellowship is a joint scheme of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials (EDCTP) and the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR). “The scheme aims to develop human resources for high quality research and development in PRDs,” says the EDCTP website. The second phase of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP2) will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, this December. On the agenda? “The role and strategic vision of the second EDCTP programme as well as explore possibilities for synergies with other international initiatives”, the EDCTP’s website says. The European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) has published its annual report for 2013, entitled “The First Decade”. “By the end of its first decade, EDCTP had launched 65 calls and supported 246 projects with a total value of € 212.12 million,” the report says. EDCTP 2 to Receive Horizon 2020 Funding

The second programme of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP 2) will receive significant additional funding from Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, ScienceBusiness.net has reported.
