€10m Available for 350 Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Flows

The European Commission has published its call for proposals for the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme. Partnerships consisting of a minimum of four or maximum of six African higher education institutions with one technical partner from the EU are eligible to apply for grants of up to one million euros. The Scheme aims to “contribute to the improvement of the quality of higher education through the promotion of internationalisation and harmonisation of programmes and curricula within participating institutions” and to “enable students, academics and staff to benefit linguistically, culturally and professionally from the experience gained in the context of mobility to another African country”. EC High-level Event on Food, Nutrition and Agriculture

The European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development is to host a 10-member panel discussion focussed on the theme: Innovative Ways for Sustainable Nutrition, Food Security and Inclusive Agricultural Growth. “Food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture are among the EU’s top development priorities for the period of 2015–2020. In this regard, research and innovation are fundamental pieces to achieve food and nutrition security goals,” says an event announcement. “The EU is launching four major initiatives to support partner countries in food security and agriculture specifically addressing the key areas of innovation, nutrition, resilience and financing.” [Image credit: Flickr/Sébastien Bertrand]

Call for Participants: Evidence, Policy and the Water-Energy-Food Nexus

The European Commission, African Union Commission and International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis are seeking 100 participants to attend a masterclass on evidence-based policy-making. Junior to mid-level policy-makers from EU institutions and Member States and from African institutions and African countries as well as EU and African scientists are invited to apply. Travel costs of African participants will be met by the organisers. Applications are open until 29 April 2016.
