Announcement: Workshop on Pathways for Research Uptake

CAAST-Net Plus is co-organising a workshop with the Development Research Uptake in Sub-Saharan Africa (DRUSSA) project to take place on 12 May 2015 in South Africa. Our shared ambition? South Africa to Host CAAST-Net Plus Annual Meeting

CAAST-Net Plus partners and invited stakeholders will gather this May in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the project's third annual meeting. A review of the project’s progress, challenges, and a way forward on EU-Africa STI collaboration in health, climate change, and food security will be the main focus of the discussion. In conjunction with the ACU-SARIMA conference, CAAST-Net Plus will also host a joint session with DFID-funded project, Development Research Uptake in Sub-Saharan Africa (DRUSSA), on the relationships between university research partnerships, responsible leadership, the policy environment, policy uptake and the contribution of the private sector for solutions to global challenges. Report: Science and Technology for Development - The Institutional Landscape in Africa and Europe

This report provides an overview of the European and African institutional terrain and policy frameworks for S&T and development cooperation — the EU's Framework Programmes (FPs) and the European Development Fund (EDF), as well as initiatives under the auspices of the African Union (AU) and the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD). The report details the elements of the FPs and the African Consolidated Plan of Action (CPA), as well as the EDF and the Cotonou Agreement. Africa's participation in FPs is limited but on the increase. [Image credit: CAAST-Net Plus]
