SARIMA Meeting Looks to Africa's Unique Resources

The next meeting of the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association will take place in South Africa in May 2016. The meeting will look to examine how Africa's unique resources can be employed to give the region's research and innovation an edge on the international stage. Abstract submission is currently open and will close on 31 January 2016. Early registration closes on 11 April and normal registration on 12 May. Workshops on Research and Academia at ACU-SARIMA Conference

Registration is now open to attend research and academia focused workshops during the Association of Commonwealth Universities-Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (ACU-SARIMA) Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa. Workshops will focus on themes relating to research support for early career academics in Africa, advancement in intellectual property management, and training, funding, publishing, and tracking research, amongst other topics. During this event, CAAST-Net Plus partners will also gather for their annual meeting from 10-11 May 2015. Additional side events will take place on 10, 11 and 15 May 2015. South Africa to Host CAAST-Net Plus Annual Meeting

CAAST-Net Plus partners and invited stakeholders will gather this May in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the project's third annual meeting. A review of the project’s progress, challenges, and a way forward on EU-Africa STI collaboration in health, climate change, and food security will be the main focus of the discussion. In conjunction with the ACU-SARIMA conference, CAAST-Net Plus will also host a joint session with DFID-funded project, Development Research Uptake in Sub-Saharan Africa (DRUSSA), on the relationships between university research partnerships, responsible leadership, the policy environment, policy uptake and the contribution of the private sector for solutions to global challenges. South Africa to Host Major Research and Innovation Conference

Research and innovation for global challenges and the role of universities in bolstering development efforts are the focus areas of a major event to take place in South Africa in May 2015. Key policy-makers, research and higher education representatives, private sector actors, and funders are expected to attend. Abstracts may be submitted up until 26 January 2015 and interested participants are encouraged to take advantage of an early registration offer that closes on 28 February 2015.
