Senegal to Host Next Einstein Forum

Scientists, policy-makers, civil society and business representatives will meet in Dakar from 8-10 March 2016 for the first “global gathering” of the Next Einstein Forum (NEF). The forum seeks to profile science in Africa, especially scientific development from NEF programmes. “By bringing the world to Africa, the NEF will issue a strong call for business investment in African science and government policies that fuel research and innovation,” an announcement says. “Global leaders will look at issues that can be advanced by frontier science like infrastructure, STEM potential and scientific entrepreneurship,” the announcement adds. Interested individuals should contact info[@]nef.org for an invitation. [Image credit: Next Einstein Forum]

Report: African ICT Science Cooperation Projects

http://l.caast-net-plus.org/aM

The FP7-funded IST-Africa consortium has published a study of bilateral and multilateral projects which focused on information and communications technologies (ICT) in Africa. The report specifically examined IST-Africa partners and according to the executive summary the aim is to “provide a starting point for a central repository of ICT projects and activities across Africa”. The study examined a total of 18 partner countries including Senegal, Egypt, South Africa, Angola and several European countries. A detailed mapping of donors supporting ICT innovation and research capacity in partner countries is also provided in the report. This study will be updated throughout 2015.
