Trainers Wanted to Run Pilot Courses on Sustainable Energy Use in Agriculture in East Africa

The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is calling for tenders under its programme Powering Agriculture – Sustainable Energy in the Food Sector. Interested institutes from Ethiopia, South Africa, Swaziland, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are invited to propose training programmes that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture and food production through energy efficiency measures. Call for Proposals: SA-France Research and Technology Collaborations

Researchers from France and South Africa are invited to submit proposals to the Protea programme call. The initiative, which is co-managed by South Africa’s National Research Foundation and the French Embassy in South Africa, aims to promote two-year collaborations in priority fields such as nanoscience and nanotechnology, energy and astronomy, among others. Sweden, South Africa Collaborate on Innovation Competition

Africa’s first science park, the Innovation Hub, is running a competition on sustainable innovation in South Africa. Individuals in the field of biosciences, ICT, environment and health innovation have until 1 June 2014 to enter. Prizes include seed funding totalling over €200 000, incubation services and entrepreneurship support.
