Partners in the Horizon 2020 PROTINUS project are inviting 25 PhD students and academics to participate an intensive short course on porous media physics to take place in Grenoble, France. The course “aims at presenting up to date practices and methodologies used for 3D or 3+1D (3 spaces and 1 temporal dimensions) observations of porous media,” says the event announcement. Annual e-Learning Africa Conference Heads to Cairo

The eleventh e-Learning Africa conference will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from 24-26 May 2016. According to the conference website, the gathering aims to bring together key stakeholders to discuss a range of ICT and education issues. “As the largest conference of its kind, the three-day event is a must for those wanting to develop multinational, cross-industry partnerships and contacts whilst sharing knowledge and learning new skills,” the website says. Registration is still open to participants from the southern Africa region for the Agribusiness Management Master Class. The course will take place from 10-12 November 2014, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Participants will encounter issues related to agribusiness policy development, leadership, management, and analytical skills during the course, and will have the opportunity to visit an Agri-Food business. The class is being co-organised by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development, the Agribusiness Consortium, and the Association of African Business Schools. Funding Available for Sweden-Tanzania Research Capacity Building Partnerships

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) is seeking joint proposals from Tanzanian and Swedish research institutions for its Research Training Partnership Programme. Five-year partnerships, covering areas such as research management, uptake and communication, will be aimed at “supporting the strengthening of institutional research capacity at universities and research institutions/organizations in Sweden’s target countries,” SIDA’s website says. The Wellcome Trust has announced funding worth over €50 million for health sciences research initiative in sub-Saharan Africa. The Developing Excellence in Leadership, Training and Science initiative, or DELTAS Africa, aims to “support the African-led development of world-class researchers and research leaders in Africa,” the Wellcome Trust website says.
